Chapter Eight

EVAN

Evan had debated checking in on Seraphina and decided against it. He would wait. After all, he had waited this long to be this close to her. More than likely, she was in her head. Things hadn’t gone according to plan, and he was certain that freaked her out. Despite their similar love of a good plan and sticking to it, Evan had an exceptional ability to adapt to unexpected situations.

Things hadn’t gone the way he planned. No, they had gone far better. The way he saw kink affecting their relationship was play would enhance what they shared, not define it. Connecting this way, the first time made it easier to build the connection.

Their chemistry was undeniable. The way their bodies came together was effortless, which was difficult to accomplish for a couple who weren’t at a disadvantage, much less a couple with one partner being sightless. It hadn’t been the obstacle he imagined. Instead, it had enhanced the experience. Evan registered everything about her. Every sound she made, the silkiness of her skin, the tightness of the core, the intoxicating scent of her arousal, and the tangy musky taste of her essence, were all engrained in his memory. Walking away from her was not an option.

After she left his room, Evan called Kalev to arrange for their meal to be delivered to the suite. She had charged him with surprising her and he was certain his choice would surprise her. Since he had confidence they would be together again before the night ended, he wasn’t hesitant to wash away the evidence of their coupling.

Evan informed her of the food’s arrival. He’d knocked on the door. “Seraphina, dinner has arrived.”

“Oh!” Even through the door, he registered the sound of her surprise. “I’ll be right out.”

Right out, had now been fifteen minutes. He finally heard her door open. Her steps and her words were frantic. “I’m so sorry to keep you waiting.”

“No need to apologise. You are worth waiting for.” She sat in the chair beside him, and the smell of fresh cotton candy teased him.

“Um, thank you.” He didn’t like the way she sounded uncertain, but they could have that discussion another time. “Ready to eat?” He asked.

“Kalev, we are ready to eat,” Evan called once she confirmed she was.

“Oh, this is a pleasant surprise.” She mused.

“Well, you said to surprise you.”

“Mm, I love pizza, and I have never had a deep-dish pizza before.” Seraphina explained.

“Have you never wanted to try it? There are lots of places in Toronto where it is served.”

“Yeah, but I didn’t think it would be the same. I’ve always wanted to try it, but I told myself it would be in Chicago.”

“Well, then I am glad I can share this first with you.” Being able to provide her with a first, any first, brought him immense pleasure.

“Why are there two pizzas?”

“Well, the other pizza is just as iconic here in Chicago. It’s a backup in case you weren’t a fan. Not everyone enjoys deep dish.
